Days of the week names

Would you ever name your kid Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday?

Sunday - actress Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban named their first daughter together Sunday Rose Kidman Urban. As far as I know she wasn't born on a Sunday. I personally like it and think its cute. A good nickname for her would be Sunny. That's the only time I've heard Sunday used as a name.

Monday - I have never heard of anyone being named Monday but why would someone name their kid after one of the most hated days of the week? LOL

Tuesday - Naming a child this would certainly bring on the question "so where's your brother Wednesday and sister Thursday?"

Wednesday - "Addams Family" anyone

Thursday - makes me think of the phrase Thirsty Thursday!

Friday - I can picture this being a cute name on a boy although I personally would never use it.

Saturday - I'm not really sure what to think about this being used as a name. I certainly have never heard of anyone named Saturday nor do I think would want to.

Gianna Natalia

How italian sounding is this name? I like this name a lot especially if I were to have an italian baby girl. I am part Italian (3/4 I think) and if I marry an Italian man and have his baby and he wants to give the baby an italian name I would insist on this. JEE-Ah-Na Nah-Tal-EE-eya MAGNIFICO!!!!!

OLD baby name book

I was given this baby name book by my grandmothers cousin from 1942. It was interesting to look through and see what names were NOT in it like Riley, Savannah, Aiden or Connor just to name a few.

They do put a lot of emphasis on the name "Ethyl" though. I guess because the book was probably published at the Ethyl Corporation, Chrysler Building, NY, NY. It says:

"Ethyl is a trademark name. It stands for antiknock fluid made only by the Ethyl Corporation. Oil companies put Ethyl fluid into gasoline to prevent knocking.
The Ethyl trade mark emblem on a gasoline pump means that Ethyl fluid has been put into high quality gasoline and that the gasoline sold from that pump can be called "Ethyl."
Do not confuse Ethyl with tetraethyl lead. Tetraethyl lead is an antiknock chemical widely used in gasoline. However, it is only one of several important ingredients in Ethyl antiknock fluid."

Hey i didn't write it. Apparently the writers thought it would be interesting to go into a baby name book.

According to SSA.com Ethel or Ethyl is not even in the top 20 names of 1942 or the few years before and after.

boring names

So there's a woman who I work with who has 2 sons that are school aged and their names are Tommy and Billy. I assume their full names are Thomas and William but I just know them from what she calls them. Not to sound rude but I just think those names are so boring. Not that I like ALL unique names, in fact I I love the name William. Thomas isn't bad but together they seem too plain.

Rob Lowe is another one who's kids have boring names. Matthew and John. They are both nice names but very boring together especially since he is a celebrity and celebrities have a history of creating unique variations of names like Apple and Shiloh.

nicknames

I just added a nicknames tab to my page. Its a list of names that are generally used as nicknames like Andie, Vicky, Mike, etc...

favorites and least favorites

I just added to my boys names and girls names lists either a  ♥  or an "✗". The  ♥  is for if I love or really like the name and the "✗" is if I dislike the name very much. If i didn't put anything next to a name that means its either ok or I don't have an opinion. I change my mind a lot about names so I will probaly move the ♥ and "✗" around a bit i'm sure.

New to blogging

I'm new to this blogging thing but I am looking forward to writing things but starting is the hard part. What can I say? I like names. I would not say i'm "obsessed" with names but its just something I feel I can blog about easily enough. I guess you could say i'm passionate about them. Its like someone liking sports or clothes or something and blogging about it. This is my blog about baby names.

I don't have any children or pets of my own so I've never really had something to "name" but I do think occasionally about what I would name my future children. I make lists all the time of names I like and even names I don't like and would never consider using.  I added to this blog my collection of all the girls name I know, all the boys name I know, unisex names and celebrity offspring names. I will be adding more lists as time goes on to make it interesting and I plan to change things up.

Hopefully people will enjoy my blog and the pages I add. I would love to see comments....
